Shadows of the heart
In shadows of the heart, a tale untold,
A son's silent ache, a love growing cold.
I yearned for a touch, for a father's embrace,
But found only echoes, in the empty space.
The playgrounds I wandered, hand still in air,
Searching for guidance, for a presence to share.
The milestones I passed, each victory won,
Yet the echo of silence weighed like a ton.
Through birthdays and graduations, I stood all alone,
In a world full of faces, I felt on my own.
The void that I carried, a heavy, deep well,
A story of absence, a truth hard to tell.
But strength grew within me, a fire burning bright,
As I vowed to break free from the shroud of the night.
To be more than the story of what I’d not had,
To rise, to be whole, to heal, to be glad.
For though I may carry this ache deep inside,
I’ll forge my own path, with love as my guide.
In the echoes of silence, I’ll find my own way,
To honor the father I never could say.
And one day, perhaps, in the tapestry of time,
I’ll find peace in my heart, in my own quiet rhyme.
For a son's love runs deep, no matter the space,
In the longing, the ache, there's a sacred embrace.
